Soy farming is rapidly expanding across forests, grassland and other carbon-rich natural ecosystems in Brazil – with troubling implications for emissions targets.

Dr Tiago Reis from Trase gave a preview of new and unpublished supply chain data:

  • What is the scale of emissions from soy deforestation in Brazil?
  • Where are the greatest challenges found?
  • What does this mean for initiatives such as the Amazon Soy Moratorium?
  • What are the most strategic opportunities for effective action?

Trase is an initiative of Global Canopy and the Stockholm Environment Institute (SEI) which maps the international trade and financing of agricultural commodities that drive tropical deforestation.
