CBD COP16: Bridging the gap: How effective policy can promote sustainable land use and mitigate deforestation

The event brought together representatives from government, the private sector, and civil society to foster a deeper understanding of how policies can promote sustainable land use, combat deforestation and discuss the role of multi-stakeholder partnerships in driving systemic change.

This event was co-organised by the Investor Policy Dialogue on Deforestation (IPDD), Finance Sector Deforestation Action (FSDA), High-Level Champions, Global Canopy, IIGCC, and host Storebrand Asset Management.

The event covered following topics:

  • Discuss the role and effectiveness of regulation in promoting sustainable land use, product traceability, and combating deforestation.
  • Explore the importance of multi-stakeholder partnerships in driving systemic change.
  • Understand the challenges and opportunities in implementing successful regulations, with a focus on the EU Deforestation Regulation.
