Hylton Murray-Philipson

Hylton established Morgan Grenfell in Brazil in 1982 and was later Chief Executive of the investment bank Henry Ansbacher in New York. In 1992, he founded Wingate Ventures, providing corporate finance services to businesses making a positive contribution to the environment.

Hylton was a director of Agrivert Ltd – one of the UK’s leading generators of energy from waste through anaerobic digestion; he was also a director of Geothermal International Ltd, the UK’s leading installer of ground-source heating and cooling systems.

Hylton was managing director of Canopy Capital – a pioneering enterprise driving value to ecosystem services in the rainforest of Guyana – as he believes that the conservation of tropical forests is, like the generation of renewable energy, a vital component in the battle against climate change. He was on the Advisory Council of the Rainforests Project of HRH the Prince of Wales.

Hylton practices regenerative agriculture on his family farm in Leicestershire and is a partner in Sustainable Land Management. He is also Chairman of Willows Activity Farm, home to Peter Rabbit.

Hylton is Co-Chair of the Trustees of Global Canopy and a Global Canopy Partner.
