Marina Comandulli

Marina joined Global Canopy in 2023 to inform, improve and lead the implementation of the organisation’s human rights strategy and practice.

She started her human rights career in Brazil and subsequently worked in Guatemala and the UK for organisations as varied as War on Want, Peace Brigades International, the UN Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights in Guatemala and Global Witness. She also worked as a consultant for the Business and Human Rights Resource Centre and Earthsight. The focus of her work has been on investigating human rights abuses, data collecting on those violations as well as their link to environmental abuses such as deforestation.

Marina holds an undergraduate degree in Law and a Master’s degree in Sociology from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (Brazil) and a Master’s degree in Human Rights from the London School of Economics.

Associada sênior de Direitos Humanos e Desmatamento

Marina ingressou na Global Canopy em 2023 para subsidiar, aprimorar e liderar a implementação das estratégias e práticas de direitos humanos da organização.

Ela começou sua carreira na área de direitos humanos no Brasil e, posteriormente, trabalhou na Guatemala e no Reino Unido para diversas organizações, tais como a War on Want, a Peace Brigades International, o Alto Comissariado das Nações Unidas para os Direitos Humanos na Guatemala e a Global Witness. Também atuou como consultora para o Business and Human Rights Resource Centre e para a Earthsight. O foco de seu trabalho sempre foi a investigação de violações de direitos humanos, a coleta de dados sobre essas violações e seus vínculos com crimes ambientais, inclusive o desmatamento.

Marina é graduada em Direito e mestre em Sociologia pela Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul, além de ter um mestrado em Direitos Humanos pela London School of Economics.
